Editorial Process
Why Make It
There are plenty of recipes out there—because of this thing called the internet. This abundance creates quite the dilemma. What should I read and what should I make? We address this at the start of every recipe with the Why Make It section.
Instead of adding more noise, each recipe idea goes through an editorial process to ensure its adding something of value. At least one of these criteria will be met:
Different Perspective
If a recipe brings an individual take—it will make the cut. In the same breath, the recipe must also add value to what already exists. This is the broadest criteria and is at the core of Outlet F&D.
Amplify
There may be a recipe or idea that is already floating around out there that we think needs more attention. In this case, we will give our take while placing it in context of everything else.
New Approach
This is the most obvious of the group. If there is a novel recipe or technique, it will make its way through. Truly new ideas and techniques are rare; this will be the least common criteria reached.
Meaningful Adaptation
There are certain circumstance where we will adapt recipes. Adapted recipes will always be credited to the original author and publication. Reasons for adaptation could include updating something that has aged, simplifying a recipe, or making a recipe better.
